The first unit of the group TWICE, MISAMO, made their Japanese debut with the album ‘Masterpiece’ and claimed the top spot on the Oricon daily album ranking.
Presented by JYP Entertainment, MISAMO comprises three talented members – Mina, Sana, and Momo – who officially released their highly anticipated mini-album ‘Masterpiece’ on the 26th of last month. The album’s success has been nothing short of phenomenal, as it dominated the Oricon daily album ranking for an impressive three consecutive days from the 25th to the 27th, capturing the hearts of the local fans.
However, their triumph didn’t stop there. ‘Masterpiece’ also conquered the iTunes album charts in 22 different regions around the world, including Japan, Singapore, and Turkey. Moreover, it claimed the top spot on the World iTunes album chart on two occasions – the 25th and 26th. These achievements highlight the group’s global appeal and firmly establish TWICE as an iconic “global top girl group.”
To celebrate their debut album’s release, Mina, Sana, and Momo held a series of captivating live showcases – ‘MISAMO JAPAN SHOWCASE 2023’ – in two prominent cities: Osaka and Tokyo. These showcases received an overwhelming response, with over 600,000 fans applying for pre-admission, a testament to their immense popularity.
During the showcases, MISAMO delivered stunning performances of all the album’s tracks, including the mesmerizing title track ‘Do not touch,’ as well as ‘Behind The Curtain,’ ‘Marshmallow,’ ‘Funny Valentine,’ ‘It’s not easy for you,’ ‘Rewind you,’ and ‘Bouquet.’ The trio also delighted the audience with exclusive photos, fun quizzes about the unit, and engaging behind-the-scenes discussions about the album’s creation, creating an unforgettable experience for their enthusiastic fans.
The final Tokyo concert on the 27th was especially heartwarming, as the other TWICE members surprised MISAMO with a heartfelt cheering video. Nayeon, one of TWICE’s members, even made a secret appearance at the concert venue to demonstrate her unwavering support and deep bond with the unit. Fans, who are affectionately known as ONCE, also contributed to the emotional atmosphere with a touching slogan event, expressing their love and congratulations to MISAMO. In response, Mina, Sana, and Momo expressed their heartfelt gratitude and eagerly looked forward to meeting their fans again in the future.
