Regarding the casting of Korean actors, especially Lee Ji-eun, by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, the journalist explained, “Director Kore-eda watched ‘My Mister’ during the Covid-19 pandemic period”.

She continued, “He didn’t understand the Korean lines but he could get the feeling when the actors say the lines. He believed that they were actors who can catch the feelings and nuance really fast”, adding, “After realizing that Lee Ji-eun is a singer, he even searched and watched many performance DVDs and Youtube videos of her.”

The way director Hirokazu Kore-eda got to know about Lee Ji-eun before the movie production led to a special scene in the movie.

The journalist said, “In ‘Broker’, there is a scene where Lee Ji-eun sings a lullaby to her child. This scene was added after Lee Ji-eun got cast. He (the director) also shared, ‘I wanted to listen to Lee Ji-eun singing, so I think I might have added the scene without realizing it’.”
