Actress Kim Bo-ra, who gained great popularity for the role of Kim Hye-na in “SKY Castle,” has been in the industry for 15 years since she started out as a child star in 2005.
Kim Bo-ra was born in 1995. She turns 27 this year. She started her career in 2005 at the age of 11 when she played the child version of Jang Na-ra in the KBS drama “Wedding“. When she was a child actress, Kim Bo-ra was loved for her cute appearance when she starred in dramas such as “Famous Chil Princesses”, “Love Me When You Can”, “Royal Family” and “Seo-young, My Daughter”.
Kim Bo-ra has continued to take part in different productions after becoming an adult. However, mainly taking on child roles made it difficult for her to gain special attention. In 2017, besides acting, she also worked a part-time job to improve her income.
In one of her interviews, Kim Bo-ra said, “While filming the 2017 drama “Avengers Social Club”, my income wasn’t good, so I took a part-time job at a cafe. It’s uncomfortable to receive pocket money from my parents. It’s the job I choose, and I enjoyed doing it, so I don’t want anyone’s help.”
Kim Bo-ra eventually rose to stardom thanks to playing Kim Hye-na in JTBC’s hit drama “SKY Castle” in the second half of 2018. She captured the audience’s action with her portrayal of an unconventional high school student, showing strong acting skills. Although she only took on a supporting role, Kim Bo-ra topped the list of the most buzzworthy TV drama actors at the time.
Kim Bo-ra mainly gets cast to play student characters for the last 10 years because she looks much younger than her real age. After appearing in “Sky Castle,” she said in an interview, “I will act until I can wear a school uniform as much as possible.”
