These K-Dramas are all hits even though they are not expected to become blockbusters

These names unexpectedly broke out to become blockbusters.

A Business Proposal

A Business Proposal is a series that doesn’t have a cult star cast so its first episode only recorded a rating of more than 4%, an average achievement compared to other public stations’ series. But because of its interesting content and it’s also a joint project with Netflix, right in episode 2, the situation changed rapidly and the series’ ratings kept increasing. Halfway through the broadcast, the rating has officially reached the 2-digit milestone, with an achievement of 10.1% for episode 6. On SNS, A Business Proposal is an extremely hot keyword, attracting the most attention from the audience in all the works that are currently airing.

Penthouse

Penthouse’ recruited a very high-quality cast, but this cast was not initially the names that drew the audience’s attention, neither Lee Ji Ah nor Eugene. However, when it was broadcast, the drama caused a frenzy all throughout Asia by over-dramatizing the story. Many actors have risen in popularity as a result of this work, and the young cast has also a chance to change their lives.

Squid Game

Of course, as a Netflix original series, ‘Squid Game’ was expected to be a blockbuster, but the audience was initially uninterested in the project due to the fact that the cast was not commercially famous. Except for the two male leads, the remaining names are not known to movie audiences.  The survival genre is also not the strength of Korean filmmakers, which makes the audience more concerned about the quality of ‘Squid Game’.  But in the end, this work caused a global craze, bringing Korean films beyond the borders of Asia, becoming an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of this country.
