[theqoo] K-netizens react to Jennie’s “evil side“ in “The Idol”, questionable acting?

Dyanne, the character of BLACKPINK Jennie in “The Idol”, reveals her true face in episode 2, drawing huge attention.

On June 12th, an article titled “The true face of Jennie’s character, which was revealed in episode 2 of ‘The Idol’ aired today (spoiler)”, was uploaded on the Korean forum “theqoo”, attracting over 70,000 views within 3 hours.

The aforementioned article included a scene of BLACKPINK Jennie in episode 2 of “The Idol”, which was published by a fan. As it turns out, Jennie’s character, Dyanne, was scheming behind the female lead’s back, in an attempt to overthrow her and take her position as a top star.

In the scene, it also can be seen that Dyanne asked The Weeknd’s character if Lily-Rose Depp’s character is a better fuck than her, all the while showing a sensual appearance, gluing the audience’s eyes to the screen.

The original poster of Jennie’s cut also couldn’t help but admire, adding the caption of, “Oh she’s evil. I’m obsessed with her.”

However, while a lot of people show excitement and praise Jennie’s evil and sexy side, many made rather harsh criticisms of her “stiff acting”.

Below are some comments from Korean netizens, who saw the newly-revealed “evil Jennie”:

  • Controversy aside, what’s going on with Jennie’s acting… It’s so embarrassing.
  • Both Jennie and The Weeknd showed no facial expression at all…
  • Jennie’s appearance is lethal to witness… She’s also evil, so my heart can’t recover
  • Awkward acting, but Jennie looks nice. I hope to see more of her character
  • I love Jennie, and her character sounds interesting, but “The Idol” is literally just The Weeknd’s male fantasy
  • Both of them cannot act
