The reason why real-life couple Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin will have different love lines in new drama “Our Blues”
“Our Blues” writer Noh Hee Kyung explained why she cast Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin, who are actually dating, in different on-screen love lines.
On April 7th, the press conference for tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Our Blues” was held. Writer Noh Hee Kyung, director Kim Kyu Tae, the cast including Lee Byung Hun, Shin Min Ah, Cha Seung Won, Lee Jung Eun, Han Ji Min, Kim Woo Bin, and Uhm Jung Hwa attended the event, which was broadcast live due to the pandemic.
Regarding the decision to cast Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin in separate love lines, writer Noh Hee Kyung said, “I didn’t think it would work if I put the two together. We talked about it. I said I hoped they understood that they would be in different love lines, and I’m glad that they were fine with it. They are great actors so they wanted to do it. They are so cool about it that I didn’t have any other concerns”.
Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin have been dating in public for seven years after admitting that they were a couple in 2015. Shin Min Ah stood by Kim Woo Bin’s side and continued to support him while he was battling nasopharyngeal cancer. “Our Blues” marks the first time they appear in the same drama since their debut.
Set in the warm and bustling Jeju Island with the cold and rough ocean, “Our Blues” is an omnibus-format drama that depicts the sweet and bitter lives of different characters. Against the backdrop of Jeju’s traditional five-day market and village, 14 actors star as friends, neighbors, and family members. Their stories will be unveiled each episode in their respective stages of life. The drama premieres on April 9th on tvN and Netflix.
