‘Mask Girl’ main character Kim Mo Mi is portrayed by three actresses
The “Mask Girl” series has recently become a hot topic and has amazed many viewers from the moment its poster was released thanks to the spot-on casting compared to the original webtoon. Particularly, the main character Kim Mo Mi is portrayed by three actresses: Go Hyun Jung, Nana, and newcomer Lee Han Byeol.
Recently, the director of the series revealed the reason behind selecting a newcomer actress for the challenging role of Kim Mo Mi. Instead of relying on makeup to create the character, the director wanted to choose someone who embodies Kim Mo Mi perfectly in every aspect, from appearance to personality.
Lee Han Byeol deeply empathizes with her character based on her own past experiences. However, unlike Kim Mo Mi, this doesn’t lead her to dislike her own outward appearance.
The actress shared: “Similar to Mo Mi, I’ve also faced moments of hurt due to my appearance. However, that experience didn’t make me hate my appearance. I don’t have any issues portraying a character with an unattractive physique either. I’ve found genuine joy and satisfaction throughout the filming process.“
