“Running Man Philippines” has received a surprisingly high rating from the first episode of the season.
“Running Man Philippines” is a co-production project prepared by SBS from 2020 and first aired on September 3rd during the weekend golden timeslot of GMA, a terrestrial channel in the Philippines.
“Running Man Philippines,” led by the Philippines’ favorite all-rounder entertainer Mikael Daez, popular actors Ruru Madrid and Glaiza De Castro as members of the first season, started the “Running Man” signature “Name Tag” game at Hwaseong Haenggung Palace in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The first episode recorded 14.1% and 14.4% (provided by Nielsen in the Philippines), ranking first among programs of the same timeslot. It is more than three times higher than the competition program “Idol Philippines.”
The online buzz is also overwhelming. During the first episode, the cut of member Lexi receiving the flying chair penalty due to a mistake by the production team exceeded 2 million views online in just two days.
According to a local broadcasting insider, “Running Man Philippines” has achieved a very high viewer rating of 14% since the first episode, and the viewer rating trend has also been on the rise for the past two days, which is expected to increase even more in the future.
Kim Yong-jae, deputy director of SBS Global Content Biz Team, said, “This Philippine Running Man co-production is SBS’ first chance to show our co-production capabilities in the Philippines, a major Hallyu-popular country after Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia.”
Meanwhile, SBS co-production project “Running Man Philippines” is produced in a total of 16 episodes and had already filmed the pre-season episodes at major attractions in Korea.
