According to the May 24 broadcast of SBS’s Running Man, producer Kang Hyeong-seon officially shared her farewell with the cast and viewers during Episode 804, titled “Why Is Running Man Like This?”
During the opening segment, Yoo Jae-suk warmly welcomed back several familiar writers and staff members who had returned after a short break.
“I see a lot of familiar faces today,” Yoo Jae-suk said. “Writer Eunji, writer Hyoim, Seorim, and Yesul have returned.”
Ji Suk-jin also greeted the returning staff with excitement, commenting that they looked healthier and happier. Ji Ye-eun added that some of them even appeared to have lost weight, creating a cheerful atmosphere on set.
However, the reunion also came with bittersweet news. Yoo Jae-suk revealed that Kang Hyeong-seon PD would be leaving the program starting this week due to maternity leave.
“Today is Hyeong-seon PD’s last day. She’s leaving to prepare for childbirth,” he shared, adding, “It’s a blessing.”
The cast members applauded and expressed their support for the producer as she prepared for the next chapter of her life.
The show also confirmed through on-screen captions that a new PD will take over beginning next week, stating, “Starting next week, Running Man will continue running energetically with a new PD.”
This marks another major production change for the SBS variety show. Back in December 2025, longtime producer Choi Hyung-in, who had led the program for five years, also stepped down due to childbirth. Kang Hyeong-seon later succeeded her, but is now leaving after approximately five months for the same reason.
The consecutive PD changes have sparked curiosity among fans about the future direction of Running Man and how the production team will continue to evolve moving forward.
