The production team of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” finally speaks up about rumors claiming Mayor Park Won-soon inspired them

On August 11th, the production team of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” told OSEN, “The 12th episode is also extracted from a case book just like other episodes. It has nothing to do with certain people, and we would like to ask everyone to refrain from excessive interpretation and speculation,” it stressed.

Earlier, after the 12th episode aired on August 4th, some argued that the story may have political intentions related to the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon. In the broadcast, Ryu Jae-sook (Lee Bong-ryeon), a female human rights lawyer, defended the female employees who were fired by their company using the excuse of company restructuring.

In fact, in 1999, Nonghyup forced female employees from couples that were both working at its company to quit, and the retired women filed a lawsuit against the company. At that time, former Mayor Park Won-soon was among the three co-lawyers who were in charge of defending the female employees. Regarding the scene where lawyer Ryu Jae-sook reads poet Ahn Do-hyun’s poem “One briquette” in “Woo Young-woo,” some netizens argued that the production team may have taken the inspiration from Park Won-soon and created the character Ryu Jae-sook in the drama.

Meanwhile, in the 13th episode of ENA “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” which aired on August 10th, Kwon Min-woo (Ju Jong-hyuk), who is called “Tactician Kwon,” and Choi Soo-yeon (Ha Yoon-kyung) created a strange love line, making viewers laugh.

The 13th episode recorded 13.5% nationwide (based on Nielsen Korea on paid households). The ratings for the 11th and 12th episodes were 14.2% and 14.9%, which means the show has gone down about 1%. It is more than 2% lower than the 9th episode, which recorded the highest viewer rating (15.8%). However, the drama still maintained its No. 1 rating among Wednesday and Thursday dramas.

The 14th episode of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” which has three episodes left until the end of the show, will be broadcast on ENA at 9 p.m. on August 11th.
