Kim Se Jeong’s co-star is a newbie in the small screen

It will not be a surprise if viewers have never heard of the name Nam Yoon Soo before, because he has just been in the industry for a few years and only appeared in 4 drama series up to date. In 2018, Nam Yoon Soo played a main role in a lesser-known drama series “4 Kinds of House”.

Two years later, thanks to his villain role as Kwak Ki Tae in the Netflix web-drama “Extracurricular”, Nam Yoon Soo was more widely known and visible to the public. Also in the same year, the 1997-born actor took on another role in tvN drama series “Birthcare Center”.

In each work he appears in, Nam Yoon Soo does his best and, consequently, he is getting the recognition he deserves. Last year, the historical drama “The King’s Affection” attracted a pool of attention from “sageuk” (historical) drama enthusiasts in Korea.

While Park Eun Bin took the majority of spotlight thanks to her magical transformation between feminine and masculine images, Nam Yoon Soo was among the main characters that left an impression on the audience. In 2021, the actor also appeared in the thrilling psychological drama “Beyond Evil” as a supporting cast.

With “The King’s Affection” as his career booster, Nam Yoon Soo challenges himself with SBS drama series “Today’s Webtoon”. Potential as the series is, the actor cannot escape the comparison with Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Se Jeong’s former co-star that took the small screen by the storm owing to their various famous romantic scenes in the megahit series “Business Proposal”.

Nam Yoon and Ahn Hyo Seop have their unique attractive points

In all fairness, both actors are talented and attractive in their own rights. While Ahn Hyo Seop may have a more aloof and classy aura, Nam Yoon Soo can easily melt viewers with his dimple smile. “The King’s Affection” heartthrob once said on radio show “Radio Star” he was famous person in highschool and could sweep the girls of his school off their feet:

“When I went down the staircase to the first floor, all the girls leaned their backs against the wall to say hello to me. They said “hello” like this (reenacting the female student’s greeting that only leaned forward and did not bow completely as they were too busy admiring his face). I said hi back and continued walking”.

Nam Yoon Soo was a popular guy in highschool

Male singer Kwang Hee, who was with the actor at the radio show, could not hide his story when hearing the story: “So this could happen in real life. I thought those things only happened on the screen”.

In reality, Nam Yoon Soo developed an interest in arts through his modeling. A talented guy with an amazing physique, it came as no surprise to know he was popular in school. However, when Cha Eun Woo transferred to his school, the actor lost a considerable number of his fanbase:

“When I saw Cha Eun Woo, it was as if I could see a halo behind him. He has a surprisingly light complexion. At the time, the girls at school were divided into different teams. Some were in my team while the others were on his”.

Coming back to “Today’s Webtoon”, if a viewer is a fan of “Sleepeeer Hit!” and keeping tabs on its Korean adaptation from the start, they will know that the male lead is supposed to be for Na In Woo. However, due to schedule conflict, the actor had to pull out from the project. That is why Nam Yoon Soo is taking on the male lead along with his “Business Proposal” star, helping the actor gain an increasing fanbase. Hopefully, the series can be another stepping stone for Nam Yoon Soo to find a place in the audience’s hearts.

“Today’s Webtoon” is airing every Friday and Saturday on SBS.
