The most touching K-drama scene recently is from “The Good Bad Mother”, new rating high established
The K-drama “The Good Bad Mother”, featuring Lee Do Hyun and Ra Mi Ran, once again made the audience shed tears.
Despite its late time slot, “The Good Bad Mother” has reached yet another rating high, with viewership for episode 8 surpassing 8.4% nationwide. In fact, the new episode didn’t even have as many climaxes as the previous one, yet it set a new personal record for the drama, with ratings in Seoul even reaching 9.5%.
In episode 8, the most heart-wrenching scene is when Young Soon (Ra Mi Ran) continues to teach her son the necessary things so that he can live independently in the future. Since she has late-stage stomach cancer, Young Soon knows she wouldn’t live long and even prepares for her own funeral. The scene where Young Soon teaches Kang Ho how to kneel and greet the mourners in front of her own portrait makes viewers unable to hold back their tears.
If in episode 7, Young Soon bawled her eyes out, then she managed to bring out emotions in episode 8 without downright sobbing. The scene where Young Soon quietly rehearses her own funeral with her son Kang Ho brings a hauntingly heart-wrenching feeling. When bowing her head to the ground, Young Soon had a few seconds where she trembled and almost cried, but her expressions settled when standing up, once again showing Ra Mi Ran’s great acting.
Below are some comments from netizens:
- They say this is a “healing drama”, but it is stabbing me repeatedly in the heart
- This scene, in my opinion, is more haunting than episode 7. I couldn’t hold back tears when seeing her prepare for her own funeral.
- I’m still hoping for a miracle to happen, although I know it’s almost impossible with late stage cancer
- Episode 8 really made me cry. Both the mother and son suffer too much, every time they get up they get knocked down.
On the other hand, in episode 8 of “The Good Bad Mother”, Young Soon has made all efforts to help Kang Ho walk normally again. After a long time, a miracle happened. Kang Ho’s recovery of both legs made the villagers extremely happy, including his ex-girlfriend Mi Joo (Ahn Eun Jin).
However, the episode ends with a surprising cliffhanger. Thanks to Kang Ho’s letter before his accident, Young Soon discovers a memory card hidden behind a family photo, a detail that surely the two lackeys of Chairman Song did not anticipate. In addition, the daughter of councilman Oh, the fiancée who caused Kang Ho’s accident, is preparing for a wedding. What will be the next moves from the councilman and chairman, as the election day is fast approaching?
