The level of punishment that the hacker who leaked Jennie & V’s dating photos might face

More dating photos of BTS’s V and BLACKPINK’s Jennie continue to be leaked one after another.

Jo Ki-hyun, a lawyer at Daehan Joongang law firm, said on September 1st that A, who leaked photos of Jennie and V, will be punished at a high level if they are charged with hacking.

According to lawyer Jo Ki-hyun, the Information Network Act prohibits anyone from damaging other people’s information or violating, stealing and divulging other people’s secrets processed, stored, and transmitted through the information network system.

If one divulges other people’s secrets, he can be sentenced to up to five years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of up to 50 million.

If one steals other people’s information and leaks their secrets on the information network system, the punishment can be aggravated.

In other words, if A really hacked V and Jennie’s cell phones and leaked their photos, they would be sentenced to up to 7 years and 6 months in prison and fined up to 75 million won.

If A asked Jennie and V’s agencies for money, they would face a more serious prison sentence.

Blackmailing is a crime that the one commits it can be imprisoned for up to 10 years and fined up to 20 million won.

If A gains more than 500 million won in profit with their crime, a special police law will be applied to them. If the gain is more than 500 million won and less than 5 billion won, they can be sentenced to more than 3 years in prison. In the case the gain is more than 5 billion won, they can be sentenced to more than 5 years in prison or even worse, life imprisonment.

Earlier, A drew attention by posting couple photos of a man and a woman claiming them as BTS’s V and BLACKPINK’s Jennie several times. Pointing out that the cell phone model, the location, and the two’s silhouettes seem to be real, netizens raised rumors of V and Jennie’s romantic relationship. Despite the intensifying controversy over the leak of private photos, V’s agency Big Hit Music and Jennie’s agency YG Entertainment remained silent.

Later on August 31st, through a Telegram chatroom, A declared that they would not upload any more photos related to V and Jennie.

The incident seemed to end, but other dating photos of two people believed to be V and Jennie continued to be leaked on August 2nd, causing dating rumors to arise again. The released photos show a man kissing Jennie’s forehead and a video call of V and Jennie. These pictures were reportedly leaked by another netizen, not A.
