Singer J-Fla , a first- generation YouTuber and the first in Korea to receive a diamond button , is a hot topic.
As of November, singer-songwriter and first-generation YouTuber in Korea with 17.6 million YouTube subscribers, J.Fla signed a contract with a domestic agency and resumed activities.
J.Fla, who posted her first YouTube video in 2011, became the first Korean individual YouTuber to surpass 10 million subscribers in November 2018 and received the diamond play button.
J.Fla, one of the most famous music creators on YouTube both in Korea and around the world, has sung the music of pop stars in her own way and earned the title of ‘cover song goddess’ .
Having built up a solid fandom with cover songs, she recently started stepping back as a singer-songwriter by announcing plans to release a full-album.
J.Fla said touchingly, “It’s been a long time since I released my own music, which I can’t remember.” She expressed her feelings, “I have a feeling of both excitement and anticipation that people will like it like when I first started YouTube.”
J.Fla, who set up her agency, Galsen Entertainment, last year after completing her long-time partnership with the British label, worked on the album with a small number of team members.
“Bedroom Singer,” which was released last month, is a song about J-Fla’s autobiographical story, and it is said that she was so absorbed in working on the album that she had difficulty hearing last year.
J.Fla, who once made her debut as a singer, faced reality different from expectations and wrote a song about the past when she had no choice but to sing in her bedroom because she had no stage.
Before doing YouTube, she was a composer from Sony Music Perfiling Japan, and she started YouTube in 2011 and debuted as a singer in 2013 at the recommendation of others.
J. Fla received many offers to appear in audition programs or broadcasts, as well as advertisements for YouTube channels, but J. Fla rejected all of them and silently walked the path she chose in order to be recognized only for her music.
As a result, the song “Bedroom Singer” was ranked 145th on the Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart and topped the iTunes Alternative chart and Amazon’s best-selling songs chart.
