Actor Lee Ji Han, who died in the Itaewon disaster on October 29th, was shown on the screen through a TV series.
MBC’s “Kokdu: Season of Deity” broadcast on March 24th paid tribute to the late actor Lee Ji Han.
It was the last episode of the drama, and the production team released a behind-the-scenes video of Lee Ji Han’s scenes before his death at the end of the broadcast.
Lee Ji Han played the role of Jung Yi Deun, the ex-boyfriend of the female lead Han Gye Jeol (Im Soo Hyang) and the son of a famous professional golfer Yeong Po.
In the video, Lee Ji Han looked very nervous as if he was determined to do his best in every scene. He showed an enthusiastic and passionate expression every time he talked with staff or heard the ‘Cut’ direction.
In a scene where Lee Ji Han looked back, the caption “The cast and staff of ‘Kokdu: Season of Deity’ remember actor Lee Ji Han” appeared.
Lee Ji Han graduated from the Department of Theater and Film at Dongguk University. At the time he passed away in the Itaewon disaster, the late actor was only 25 years old and had just started his acting career. “Kokdu: Season of Deity” was his debut drama on a public broadcasting channel.
Lee Ji Han was an actor under 935 Entertainment, the management agency of actor Nam Goong Min.
After hearing the news of Lee Ji Han’s death, actress Im Soo Hyang, who also starred in “Kokdu: Season of Deity”, left a tribute message on her Instagram account.
She said, “Ji Han ah, you must go to a good place and live happily. We were supposed to spend a whole day filming the drama with you but right after hearing the news, we went to your mortuary and sat there in silence, feeling devastated.”
She added, “I know how hard you had worked and how much you had wanted to do well. I feel so sad, so upset that it was just your beginning but you were already taken back (to heaven) so quickly”.
Im Soo Hyang continued, “Your parents held my hand and told me that you complimented me, bragged about me, and liked me a lot every time you went home from work. I think I cried for a long time because I felt so sad. I should have said something better to you and I’m sorry that I couldn’t take better care of you. I feel so sad having to send a colleague off first, but I and all the members of our team will always think about you and work harder to fulfill your parts”.
Lee Ji Han’s father Lee Jong Cheol, the representative of the Itaewon Disaster Family Council, is calling for the enactment of a special law on the disaster together with his wife Jo Mi Eun
