“The Glory” & “Moving” Nominated For Critics’ Choice Awards, Will Korean Content Win Again This Year?

Four Korean dramas were nominated for Best Foreign Language Series at the Critics’ Choice Awards

On December 6th (local time), the Critics’ Choice Association (CCA) unveiled the list of nominations for the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards. As a result, Netflix’s series such as “The Glory” & “Mask Girl”, TVING’s “Bargain” and Disney+’s “Moving” appeared among the nominees for Best Foreign Language Series.

“The Glory”, “Mask Girl”, “Bargain” and “Moving” will compete with Hulu’s series “Good Mothers” (Italy), Disney+’s “The Interpreter of Silence” (Germany), and Netflix’s “Lupin” (France).

In addition, Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” was nominated in six categories while HBO’s “Succession” earned 5 nominations, raising high anticipation for the awards ceremony.

This is the third consecutive year that Korean content has been nominated for the Series categories of the Critics’ Choice Awards. Earlier at the 27th Critics’ Choice Awards in 2022, Netflix’s “Squid Game” was nominated for Best Foreign Language Series, Best Actor (Lee Jung-jae), and Best Drama Series. As a result, “Squid Game” team won two awards, which were Best Foreign Language Series and Best Actor.

At the 28th Critics’ Choice Awards held early this year, Apple TV+’s “Pachinko” and ENA’s “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” were also nominated for Best Foreign Language Series and “Pachinko” won. Meanwhile, “Decision To Leave” failed to achieve Best Foreign Language Film.

Expectations are high on whether Korean content will be able to receive an award for the third consecutive year. The 29th Critics’ Choice Awards will take place at 7 p.m. on January 14th, 2024.
