Lim Ji Yeon talks “The Glory” success and addresses rumors of being a school bully: “I was pure and ordinary”

On the morning of March 17th, Lim Ji Yeon had an interview with My Daily at a cafe in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Lim Ji Yeon starred in both Part 1 and Part 2 of Netflix’s original series “The Glory” as Park Yeon Jin.

“The Glory” depicts the revenge plan carefully designed by school violence victim Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) and the perpetrators who fall into the whirlwind of her revenge. Releasing Part 2 on March 10th and is still, the drama proved its global popularity by ranking No.1 on Netflix’s Worldwide TV Show chart within 3 days of its release.

During the interview, Lim Ji Yeon shared, “I can feel the hot popularity of the drama. To be honest, I already thought that ‘The Glory’ would do well from the beginning. I had a strong belief that this work could arouse tremendous attention and love, but didn’t expect each and every character to receive so much interest and support from viewers”, expressing her gratitude.

The actress continued, “There is something that I really appreciate these days. Wherever I go, I hear everyone call me ‘Yeon Jin ah’. I’m so thankful and happy about that.”

Regarding her thoughts about “The Glory” achieving 1st place on the Netflix chart, Lim Ji Yeon said, “This is my first time seeing my drama receiving such huge love not only in Korea but also around the world. I feel so grateful and find it amazing at the same time. I’m also proud to see Korean content receiving keen attention overseas.”

Lim Ji Yeon showcased her excellent acting skills as a school violence perpetrator in “The Glory” to the point that some people raised rumors and suspected the actress of being a bully when she was in school. Reacting to such responses, Lim Ji Yeon said, “I saw lots of comments like, ‘Wasn’t she a bully?’, etc. I also received many messages and calls from my high school friends”

She emphasized, “I have dreamed of acting since I was young, and most of my friends were also those who showed keen interest in acting. I was very pure and ordinary. My school days were so normal that I don’t have many memories of that times.”
