“The Glory” Hwang Kwang Hee almost became a bullied victim at school: “Fortunately, my teacher helps me”
Hwang Kwang Hee, a former member of idol group ZE:A, made a surprise appearance in the Netflix drama “The Glory.”
In the 6th episode of “The Glory,” Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) appeared on a radio program as its guest. In this scene, Hwang Kwang Hee appeared as the radio DJ.
“The Glory” is a drama about a victim of school violence taking revenge after becoming an adult on the perpetrators who bullied her at school.
Hwang Kwang Hee, who made a surprise appearance in “The Glory,” once surprised the public by revealing how he had been subjected to school violence in the past.
During the talk show “Go Show” in 2012, Hwang shared, “When I was in school, I was so annoying that my seniors really hated me. I was talking with my friends when the senior students came and told me to stay after school.” He explained the situation, saying, “I answered ‘Yes!’ confidently because I thought I should not look weak.”
After that, Hwang Kwang Hee immediately went to the teacher’s office and told his homeroom teacher. “Why do we have teachers there? Because we need them to deal with such situations,” he explained.
Fortunately, Hwang Kwang Hee received great help from his teacher, unlike the story of “The Glory.” However, those seniors went back to find Hwang despite being scolded by the homeroom teacher. Hwang Kwang Hee then decided to visit the teacher in the student department and asked for help. After, the seniors who disturbed him were properly disciplined, and Hwang Kwang Hee successfully escaped from school violence.
In “The Glory,” victim Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) also informed her homeroom teacher of the school violence and asked for help. Unlike Hwang Kwang Hee’s story, the homeroom teacher turned a blind eye to Moon Dong Eun’s misery and rather left Moon to suffer than receive minus points on her merit grades.
