The second season of SBS hit drama “The Fiery Priest” is in discussion as preparation begins in earnest.
According to a report by Spotify News on the 7th, SBS is preparing for “The Fiery Priest” season 2 in earnest with the goal of broadcasting in 2023.
“The Fiery Priest” is a drama depicting the story of a hot-blooded Catholic priest and a representative detective at the Gudam Police Station. After meeting through a murder case, the two started a joint investigation and became partners in crime.
The series, which was broadcast in 2019, gained explosive popularity with a peak viewership rating of 22%. It featured popular and talented cast members such as Kim Nam Gil and Honey Lee, at the same time succeeded in discovering brilliant actors such as Eum Moon Suk and Ahn Chang Hwan.
In its finale, “The Fiery Priest” teased a 2nd season by putting the phrase “We Will Be Back” in the credits, and in 2021, a notice was posted on the production company’s website saying “The best hit of 2019, ‘The Fiery Priest’ will return”. As a result, expectations for the second season of the drama were raised to a climax.
After a long preparation, the production team recently started preparing for season 2. It was reported that Kim Nam Gil, who plays the main character Kim Hae Il, was asked to appear again, and is currently reviewing the offer.
