The Fact Music Awards 2022 is a K-pop festival that encompasses various genres and generations

The 2022 TMA has advanced to an awards ceremony that encompasses all music genres and generations.

The 2022 The Fact Music Awards was held at KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Stadium) in Bangi-dong, Seoul on October 8th. The Fact Music Awards, a music awards ceremony and music festival created together by K-pop artists and music fans around the world, was held offline for the first time in three and a half years, so the atmosphere was even hotter. 

The 2022 The Fact Music Awards effectively reflected this year’s music market trends and K-pop fan preferences.  This is shown the most through the appearance of a large number of 4th gen girl groups and male soloists.

In the K-pop market this year, starting with IVE, who debuted on December 1 last year, rookie girl groups such as Kep1er, LE SSERAFIM, and New Jeans showed great performances. IVE and New Jeans maintained the top spot on digital music charts for a long time, while LE SSERAFIM reached #8 on the Melon Daily Chart. In album sales, IVE became a million-seller, New Jeans sold over 500,000 copies, while LE SSERAFIM and Kep1er also sold about 400,000 copies.

2022 has been the year when rookie girl groups performed at an all-time high, and their achievements were confirmed all at once at the 2022 The Fact Music Awards. IVE, NewJeans, and LE SSERAFIM took home the Next Leader Award, and Kep1er was selected as the Hottest. Even though IVE is a rookie, they also won Artist of the Year (Bonsang). 

In addition, ITZY, who became a million-seller for the first time this year, and (G)I-DLE, who created the “TOMBOY” syndrome, lit up the 2022 The Fact Music Awards with electrifying performances.

Another point to note is the wider range of genres, with Lim Young-woong, Kim Ho-jung, and Young-tak at the center. They were also the main characters of the trot craze in Korea, and their performances this year were dazzling. Lim Young-woong became a million-seller with his first full album, and took over the top of domestic music charts with his songs. Kim Ho-jung became a half-million-seller with his classic album and the same for Young-tak with first full album.

They are not limited to trot, but have tried various genres such as dance, ballad, and rock, proving that they are all-rounders. 

The attendance of male soloists including Psy, Kang Daniel and Hwang Chi-yeol at the 2022 The Fact Music Award also created a colorful awards ceremony that did not focus on just idols, and completed a K-pop festival that encompasses all generations, from teenagers to seniors.

Moreover, it cannot be overlooked that all the best male idol groups gathered last night. BTS and NCT Dream, two groups at the forefront of the K-pop craze performing consecutively on one stage was a highlight of the 2022 The Fact Music Awards, which is hard to see anywhere else.

Other million-selling boy groups such as Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, ATEEZ, The Boyz, and Treasure also appeared and presented various quality performances, making K-pop fans enthusiastic.

The honor of the grand prize went to BTS. Starting with the ‘2018 The Fact Music Awards’, BTS achieved the grand prize for 5 consecutive years. In addition, he received a total of 7 awards, including the Idol Plus Popularity Award, Artist of the Year, Global Fan and Star Award, Most Voted Singer Category, FanStar Choice Singer and Individual Category in the FanStar category.

The Artist of the Year went to BTS, NCT DREAM, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, The Boyz, Tomorrow X Together, Treasure, (G)I-DLE, ITZY, Ive, Psy, Lim Young-woong, and Kang Daniel.

As a solo singer, along with Psy, Lim Young-woong’s performance stood out. Last year, he received the most votes – Trot, Trot Popularity Award, and Best Love Award in the Fan & Star category. This year, when he released his first full album, he was awarded Artist of the Year in the TMA category and won 5 crowns including the most votes in the trot category.

The 2022 The Fact Music Awards has the slogan “SHINING FOR ARTIST, EXCITING FOR FANS” with the aim of providing shining glory and colorful enjoyment to K-pop artists and fans.
