The absurd history of a girl group with 2 members joining adult-content production: One was tricked into acting while the other had to resort to the option for added popularity

The group in question was Dal Shabet who had a complicated history with explicit contents. 

Dal Shabet was a girl group that debuted in 2011 and caught attention with a unique-sounding name and equally stunning and attractive members. However, due to the harshly competitive nature of K-pop, Dal Shabet could not secure a place in the industry and eventually disbanded after 5 years of being active. 

However, it came as a surprise when two members, Viki and Woo Hee, in order to have a second chance in the industry, were involved in adult-content productions.

Viki left the group in 2012, one year after Dal Shabet debuted. The primary reason was her acting gigs. Known to be the physically attractive member of the group, Viki (Jiang Eun Hye) surprised the public by stating she was tricked into starring in an adult film productions by her company. 

At first, she was given roles in “Forbidden Love” and “The Kind Sister-In-Law” and accepted them without much thinking. However, after successes from those explicit roles, Jiang Eun Hye started getting more and more roles of the same kinds. 

The deal at first was that she would get a role in mainstream television after two adult-labeled roles. However, she realized that she was fooled to get commercial values out of them and quickly left the group. She was later replaced by Woo Hee. 

Woo Hee joined Dal Shabet and was the final member to finish her contract in 2018. She also crossed into acting but did not gain any remarkable successes due to the lack of breakout roles. In 2022, Woo Hee gained recognition from joining “Hit the Spot” alongside Hani (EXID). However, both idol-turned-actresses had to do a lot of explicit scenes due to the central subject around sex lives. 

Recently, an anonymous cast member of “Hit the Spot” revealed she was forced to do a full nude scene in order to keep her role. Eyes were on Woo Hee when she was only a rookie actress at the time and was waiting for her big break after a series of minor roles in “Reply 1994” and “Business Proposal.” 

When Yeon Ji spoke up about being the actress in question, Woo Hee was finally free from speculation.
