Suzy transforms into a retired idol alongside Yang Se Jong in “The Girl Downstairs”, Netflix confirms 

On December 12, Netflix said, “‘The Girl Downstairs’ is a romance drama about an ordinary college student, Won Jun, and Doo Na, who has retired after leaving behind her colorful K-pop idol days at a shared house. The original Naver webtoon “Lee Doo Na!” is a work of artist Min Song Ah, who became popular for her delicate, emotional portrayal of an idol-turned-housemate and a dream-like campus romance.

In “The Girl Downstairs”, which will be reborn as a Netflix series, Suzy and Yang Se Jong will play Lee Doona and Lee Won Joon.

Lee Doo Na, played by Suzy, is the main vocalist of a popular idol group and the center of popularity, but she suddenly announces her retirement and moves into a shared house in a college town. Suzy has been mentioned in the virtual casting of the original webtoon thanks to her similarity with the character such as her idol background and unrivaled beauty. Based on her acting skills recognized through dramas such as “Anna”, “Uncontrollably Fond”, it is expected that Suzy will perfectly express Doo Na’s complex emotions.

Yang Se Jong, who showed a wide range of acting in the dramas “Temperature of Love”, “Still 17”, and “My Country”, plays Lee Won Joon. Yang Se Jong is expected to show off his unique charm once again through Won Joon, a very ordinary university student.

The drama is directed by director Lee Jung Hyo of “Crash Landing on You,” “Romance is a Bonus Book,” “Life on Mars,” and “Good Wife.”
