On September 29, a press conference for Genie, Make a Wish was held at Josun Palace Seoul Gangnam, with cast members Kim Woo-bin, Suzy, Ahn Eun-jin, Noh Sang-hyun, Ko Kyu-pil, and Lee Joo-young in attendance.

Suzy takes on the role of Ka-young, a woman devoid of emotions, describing the character as “incredibly fascinating.” She said, “My character has antisocial personality disorder and is emotionally detached, which I found very compelling.”

Kim Woo-bin stars as Genie, a lamp spirit awakened after a thousand years. He explained, “This drama uses the familiar motif of a magic lamp to pose fresh questions. Through three wishes, it explores human desire and nature, the meaning of love and friendship, and the distinctions between good and evil.” He added, “The script was so well-written that I cherished each scene. I didn’t want filming to end and wanted to bring the writer’s world to life.”

Ahn Eun-jin, who plays the mysterious woman Mijoo, said, “I enjoyed the script, and while I knew stories of genies and angels, the way it was tied into reality with fantasy felt especially refreshing.”

Noh Sang-hyun, cast as Genie’s angelic yet human brother Soo-hyun, said, “The concept was so original, and the duality of my character being both an angel and a human was very intriguing. I really wanted to take on the challenge.”

Ko Kyu-pil, who plays Sade, added, “I’ve always wanted to work with writer Kim Eun-sook, and I was honored to be invited. My role is that of a jaguar who transforms, which I found fun and appealing.”

Genie, Make a Wish follows Genie, an ancient spirit freed after a millennium, and Ka-young, an emotionally detached human, as they navigate three life-changing wishes. The series promises a stress-free blend of fantasy, comedy, and romance, centering on their precarious wish-making game.

The drama premieres on October 3 on Netflix.
