Suspicious death of inmate who sued jail for playing “Baby Shark” on repeat as a torture tactic

The inmate who was allegedly tortured by the children’s song “Baby Shark” was found dead in his cell.

An inmate made headlines when he sued the Oklahoma County for torturing him by playing “Baby Shark” on repeat in 2019. Jail staffers were found to have forced at least four inmates to listen to “Baby Shark” for hours after erecting them against a wall.

This incident led to the retirement of a jail lieutenant. Two jail officers in the lawsuit filed by Basco were also reported to have been laid off.

On September 11 local time, according to Fox News, John Basco was found dead in his cell. The facility where Basco died is causing controversy with the successive deaths of its inmates. 14 people, including Basco, have died this year alone.

Jail officials suggested the possibility of death from a drug overdose. On the other hand, Basco’s lawyer expressed his doubts, saying, “The timing is suspicious. One of the ‘Baby Shark’ torture victims is conveniently dead within three days of his arrival.”
