“Street Man Fighter” producer explains why they choose Kpop idols to judge instead of dancers

After numerous controversies regarding the judges of “Street Man Fighter”, the producer spoke up

Recently, media outlet News1 had an interview with PD Choi Jeong Nam, who is in charge of the famous Mnet dance show “Street Man Fighter”.

Here, when asked why he decided to select Kpop idols to become the judges instead of professional dancers, the PD answered, “BoA used to be the judge for ‘Street Woman Fighter’, so we believed she has the ability to handle other dancing competitions.”

Wooyoung (2PM) used to participate in street dancing before debut and know about a lot of dancing elements and terminology. Eunhyuk used to be a choreography producer, he should be able to judge,” the PD claimed.

At the same time, Choi Jeong Nam also spoke up about the controversies about BoA, after the female singer was heavily criticized for eliminating Trix and Prime Kingz.

“When the whole issue happened, I thought about publicizing the judge’s evaluation chart for better understanding from the audiences. The judges actually evaluate in detail, but during production and editing, we left out a huge part of that process. As a result, there were some serious controversies, so we will be more careful in the future,” he said.
