“Squid Game” Jung Ho-yeon beat Jennifer Aniston to win the Best Actress Award at 28th SAG

Model-turned-actor Jung Ho-yeon received the Best Actress Award in Drama Series at the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG).

During the 28th American Actors Guild Awards ceremony held at Barker protest in Santa Monica, California on the 27th (local time), Jeong Ho-yeon of ‘Squid Game‘ received the Best Actress Award in Drama Series. Jung Ho-yeon, who took the stage, said, “I’m so grateful,” adding, “I dreamed of becoming an actress while watching many actors, and I’m honored to be here. Thank you so much,” she said and shed tears.

Other candidates for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series Award were Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale 4”), Sarah Snook (“Succession 3”), and Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show”).

Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk and the main actors Jung Ho-yeon, Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Kim Joo-ryeong, and Anupam Tripathi attended the award ceremony. The drama “Squid Game”, which was released on Netflix on September 17th last year, tells the story of people who risk their lives participating in a mysterious survival game in order to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.

Meanwhile, the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) is an award ceremony hosted by the American Actors Association. This is an event in which all actors and actresses in the U.S, who are active in movies and TV series, give awards to other actors.

At the 2021 SAG held last year, actress Youn Yuh-jung won Best Supporting Actress in the Film category.
