((G)I-DLE) Soyeon Criticized For Allegedly Looking Down On Newer Groups

((G)I-DLE) Soyeon's rap song caused many mixed opinions.

Last weekend, (G)I-DLE officially kicked off their second World Tour in their career, with two opening shows in Seoul, Korea. Many impressive stages and memorable moments took place here. Among them, the most stirring was the solo stage of the group leader Jeon Soyeon. The female idol performed the rap song “Is this bad b**** number?,” showing her rebellious personality in this performance.

Notably, Soyeon added a completely new rap verse to the rap song. In addition to the detail revealing her contract termination with her management company CUBE, which confused fans, this performance also caused controversy because of the content of the new rap verse.

Specifically, Soyeon wrote “ If you want to dance, become a dancer. Please stop being tone deaf. If you’re a singer, grab the mic. If you’re a rapper, write the lyrics and stick with them”.
This part was discussed by netizens on Kpop forums. Many people speculated that Soyeon was referring to the recent talent controversy of new generation groups.

During her 6 years of debut, Soyeon was the pillar of (G)I-DLE. She is an all-round idol with the top rapping ability in Kpop while also composing and producing almost all of the group’s albums. Therefore, Soyeon’s position is solid in the CUBE girl group. However, Soyeon is constantly involved in “attitude scandals”, often criticized by anti-fans for being arrogant and disrespectful to her colleagues.

Soyeon’s past plagiarism scandals were brought up for discussion, many people think that the female idol needs to be humble and careful to avoid showing off.

In addition, Soyeon’s rap lyrics also caused her teammates to be trouble. Soyeon criticized “tone-deaf idols” who cannot sing and rap and only dance like a dancer, but (G)I-DLE’s youngest member Shuhua is one the most controversial idols in Kpop in terms of skills. The female idol born in 2000 is a typical “tone-deaf” and usually criticized for being “just a pretty face” because of her limited talent.
