Song Kang To Prove His Presence With Both Romcom ‘My Demon’ & K-Creature Drama ‘Sweet Home 2”
Actor Song Kang is ready to captivate viewers with new projects on the small screen and on OTT platform
Song Kang is making his comeback with two dramas at once, “My Demon” and “Sweet Home 2”. Attention is focused on whether he will be able to solidify his position as a leading actor with these two projects.
First, Song Kang will greet the small screen viewers with SBS’s new Fri-Sat drama “My Demon”, which is scheduled to premiere as the follow-up drama to “The Escape of The Seven”.
“My Demon” is a fantasy romantic comedy depicting the story that happens when devilish chaebol heiress Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung) and the demon Jung Goo-won (Song Kang), who temporarily loses his power, get married on a contract. Achieving high ratings with his previous romcom “Forecasting Love and Weather”, Song Kang is expected to perform well in “My Demon”.
In this drama, Song Kang takes on the role of demon Jung Goo-won. This character enjoys his eternal life by making dangerous yet sweet transactions with his soul as collateral for humans. Later, he meets Do Do-hee, loses his power, gets entangled with her, and falls in love. In a romcom, which often has predictable storyline and character settings, the chemistry between the male and female leads becomes more important than anything else.
Challenging a fantasy romance for the first time, Song Kang shared, “I was excited to do a genre I had never tried before. The more I read the script, the more I got immersed in the content and the lines of the characters”. Regarding his demon character, the actor said, “It’s a completely new and different character”, raising fans’ expectations.
While “My Demon” is on air, Netflix’s “Sweet Home 2” will also premiere. Season 2 of “Sweet Home” tells about a world where desires turn humans into monsters, survivors struggle to save their lives in the new home, the emergence of new monsters, and mysterious phenomena. It will be released via Netflix on December 1st.
Ahead of its official release, the drama is already arousing enthusiastic responses from global viewers. Season 1 gained huge popularity thanks to its outstanding CG effect and solid stories. In particular, it introduced K-creature to the world and became the first Korean content to enter Netflix US’s TOP 10. As such, the series has confirmed production until Season 3.
In fact, “Sweet Home” is known as a representative work of Song Kang. The actor said, “I had a desire for deeper and more dramatic emotional elements. I returned to ‘Sweet Home’ to satisfy my desire to express emotions dramatically and explore myself more deeply for self-development.”
Song Kang will show two sides of him at a time, including a sweet romcom male lead and a strong character who fights his own desires. While trying to become a “romcom master” like Lee Jun-ho, Ji Chang-wook, and Ahn Hyo-seop, Song Kang will continue to strengthen his presence as a global actor through “Sweet Home 2”.
