On September 10, the YouTube channel “Naraesik” featured Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee, stars of JTBC’s new drama My Youth, as guests. The talk show, hosted by comedian Park Na Rae, serves dishes while engaging in candid conversation with its guests.
During the broadcast, Park Na Rae noted that both actors were once student council leaders, asking if they had been model students. Chun Woo Hee admitted she wasn’t exactly one, but Song Joong Ki responded, “I was a complete model student—just a boring one,” reflecting on his school life.
Park then mentioned reports that female students from neighboring schools would come just to see him. Song Joong Ki humbly replied, “My friends told me things like that, but at the time I really didn’t know. I was just a boring kid focused only on studying.” Chun Woo Hee caused laughter as she added, “People who are popular usually don’t realize it themselves. Only those around them know.”
Song Joong Ki went on to share how things changed in college: “Maybe because I lived such a dull school life, I wanted to rebel as soon as I got to university. I pushed my studies aside, got exhausted, and even ended up on academic probation.” Despite the setback, that period sparked his desire to pursue something meaningful. “That’s when I felt the urge to live doing what I wanted. By chance, I met a senior from my university club who introduced me to extra work in dramas. My first lines came from that senior, and that’s how I started acting,” he revealed.
My Youth, starring Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee, tells the story of a rekindled first love. The romance drama airs every Friday at 8:50 p.m. on JTBC.
