On September 18, Jung Woo Sung is set to attend the 34th Buil Film Awards handprinting event. Established in 1958, the Buil Film Awards is Korea’s first film award, credited with helping shape the golden era of Korean cinema in the 1960s. Since its revival in 2008, it has continued for 18 years, maintaining its legacy and prestige. This year’s ceremony will be held at the Signiel Grand Ballroom in Busan, featuring the handprinting and red carpet events before the presentation of 16 awards, including the Star of the Year and the Yu Hyun Mok Film Arts Award.

Ahead of the main event, actor Jang Dong Gun was announced as the recipient of the Yu Hyun Mok Film Arts Award, a special honor given to filmmakers who embody the spirit of the late director Yu Hyun Mok. Deputy Chairman of the Korean Film Council, Yang Yoon Ho, praised Jang for his performance in A Normal Family, calling it a sincere portrayal of fatherhood that aligns with Yu’s lifelong pursuit of realism and humanism in cinema.

The handprinting event will feature last year’s award winners, including Jung Woo Sung (Best Actor), Kim Geum Soon (Best Actress), Lim Ji Yeon (Best Supporting Actress), Lee Joon Hyuk (Star of the Year – Male), Shin Hye Sun (Star of the Year – Female), Kim Young Sung (Best New Actor), and Jung Soo Jung (Best New Actress).

Jung Woo Sung had previously admitted to being the biological father of model Moon Ga Bi’s son, sparking public debate. At the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards last November, he addressed the issue, stating, “I will take full responsibility as a father and bear all criticism.” More recently, news of his marriage registration with a non-celebrity girlfriend has once again drawn public attention to his personal life.
