On September 11, Moon Chae Won appeared on SBS PowerFM’s Park Ha Sun’s Cinetown, where she discussed her involvement in the film The Cursed. The Cursed depicts a chilling world where ghosts are bought and sold. The movie unfolds through several interconnected episodes, each exploring how human desires pushed to the extreme can create horror.
Host Park Ha Sun pointed out that Moon’s character shares her real name, “Chae Won.” Moon revealed, “I think they gave the character that name to cast me specifically. That’s why I felt like I had to do it.” When asked if she was indeed the first choice, Moon responded with a smile, “It seems that way.”
Describing her character, Moon explained, “Chae Won is attractive enough but cannot overcome even a small complex. Her obsession with perfection drives her to undergo repeated plastic surgeries, with her desire escalating to dangerous extremes.” She added, “I could relate to always wanting to be the best, since my profession is also about appearances. But I couldn’t relate to the extreme side of her.”
Moon also praised her co-star, Lovelyz’s Jisoo, saying, “She’s so cute, cheerful, and lovable. Even though her character was supposed to be threatening me, I still found her adorable, which made it hard to stay fully immersed at times.”
Although she admitted that she normally struggles with horror films, Moon said filming The Cursed was different: “Sometimes I even get scared watching my own movies, but while shooting, there was no fear at all. It really made me realize how different filming is from watching.”
