Song Hye Kyo and Seo Kyoung Duk made a donation to The Korean Provisional Government complex to commemorate the Liberation Day

Actress Song Hye Kyo and Professor Seo Kyoung Duk honor the late Kim Kyu Sik, Provisional Government’s leader on Liberation Day.

Professor Seo Kyoung Duk, a nationalist scholar and social activist, announced on August 15 that he donated artworks honoring Kim Kyu Sik to the Provisional Government Complex in Chongqing, China together with actress Song Hye Kyo, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day.

According to Professor Seo, the donations are made of bronze, measuring 80 centimeters in width and 90 centimeters in height. It has been installed in the office of President Kim Gu in the Chongqing Provisional Government Complex.

This donation was conducted as part of the “Korea Independence Activist Relief Art Donation Campaign”. Earlier, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Bongo-dong and Cheongsan-ri, works by General Hong Beom Do and General Kim Jwa Jin were donated to the Kyzylorda State Science Library in Kazakhstan and the Hanzhong Park in China, respectively.

Professor Seo said this donation was meant to honor the historical achievements of Kim Kyu Sik. He added, “Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the situation of the remaining sites of the independence movement abroad is not very good. At times like this, we should pay more attention.”

Seo Kyoung Duk and Song Hye Kyo, as planners and sponsors of the donation, respectively, have donated Korean guidebooks, Korean signboards and relief works to 31 Korean independence movement sites overseas for 11 years on historical anniversaries.
