On November 23, as reported by Korean media, Son Ye Jin was confirmed to star in a new movie called The Cross, which is expected to begin filming in mid-2022, after shooting for her doctor role in the upcoming drama Thirty Nine is completed.
The Cross is an American-Korean co-production. The filming set is currently being established at the campus of Dongmyung University. The film is set in the future, in a multi-ethnic country divided in two by the border, where people are stuck between these two countries and have opposite lives, rich and poor. Son Ye Jin was offered the role of Vera – a woman who lives near the border of a poor society and takes care of her son alone after her husband passes away.
The viewers are excited for this new big screen project of Son Ye Jin and believe that this will be a role that helps the actress showcase her top-notch acting, especially in emotionally challenging scenes. Moreover, Son Ye Jin seems to be destined to play a mother in theatrical films, because in her most recent movie – Be With You, she also portrays an unhappy young mother.
Some comments from the audience:
- It’s been a long time since I last watched Son Ye Jin on the big screen
- I already imagine her wearing vintage clothes like the scenes set in North Korea in Crash Landing On You
- I think this movie will be tearful
- Offer Hyun Bin a role too please, he would be perfect for a movie about a divided country.
The film has not yet set a release date.
