Son Seok Koo revealed his special growth story, from an art student studying abroad to a soldier dispatched to Iraq, and from an office worker to an actor.
Son Seok Koo had a splendid career before becoming an actor. He started studying abroad early in middle school and continued his studies in Canada and the United States. He majored in visual arts and film at the School of Art Institute of Chicago.
When asked “How did you volunteer to join the Zaytun Division?“, Son Seok Koo confessed, “After returning from studying abroad for a long time, I couldn’t adapt well to life in Korea. Speaking Korean itself was difficult, and I doubted myself a lot.“
He went on to say, “The military life was so good that it was one of the happiest times in my life. At a time when I had a lot of thoughts and worries, I started anew in a place where no one knew. If you work hard, you’ll be recognized. I learned that virtue.“
Then, why did he become an actor? Son Seok Koo said, “I happened to attend an acting academy and act in a play, and I thought it fit my aptitude. First of all, there was romance. Practicing and doing something in front of people. Actually, I didn’t like acting before that. As I got older, my thoughts became different.“
Surprisingly, during that time, Son Seok Koo worked as an office worker. Son Seok Koo shared, “While living in Canada, my grandfather ran a company, and I ended up doing door-to-door sales as a salesperson. Actually, I couldn’t sell a single one.“
