On June 25, the production team for SBS’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated held a press conference at SBS Hall in Mok-dong, Seoul. Cast members So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Lee Jun-hyuk, and Cha Woo-min attended the event.
Agent Kim Reactivated is a revenge action drama that follows an ordinary father who transforms into the most dangerous man imaginable to rescue his only daughter after she is kidnapped. So Ji-sub stars as Kim Bu-jang (Agent Kim), the head of the accounting department at Sangsaeng Savings Bank, who has raised his daughter, Kim Min-ji (played by Seo Su-min), on his own.

Explaining why he accepted the project, So Ji-sub said he had been hoping to return to the action genre. “I wanted to do another action drama, so I started reading the script.” He added that the emotional depth of the story convinced him to join the series. “The narrative in Agent Kim Reactivated, along with the emotions and circumstances of a father raising his daughter alone and desperately searching for her, felt like a meaningful challenge for me.”
The drama also marks So Ji-sub’s first SBS series in 13 years. Reflecting on his long history with the network, he shared: “I made my acting debut in the 1996 SBS drama Model. I’ve done many SBS productions since then. My first leading role was also with SBS, and the results have generally been good.” He continued with a smile: “I’m looking forward to this one as well. SBS feels like home to me, so I feel comfortable and happy here.”
Describing the appeal of Agent Kim Reactivated, So Ji-sub highlighted both its action and emotional storytelling. “The thrilling, satisfying action and the well-developed characters with meaningful backstories make it enjoyable to watch.”
While acknowledging the drama’s heavy premise, he noted that lighter moments help balance the story. “Since the daughter disappears, it can’t be a cheerful story. But there are moments of humor that naturally come out when the characters are together.”
So Ji-sub married former announcer Jo Eun-jung, who is 17 years younger than him, in 2020. The couple does not have children. Although he has portrayed father figures before, Agent Kim Reactivated marks the actor’s first father role since his marriage, giving fans the opportunity to see him take on a new emotionally driven character as a devoted single father determined to save his daughter.
