SM artists are announced to join Weverse in the near future

Artists under SM Entertainment are reportedly moving to the fan communication platform, Weverse.

On April 14th, it is reported that SM and HYBE reached an agreement to allow SM artists to join the global multimedia and artist-to-fan communication platform, Weverse.

Previously, SM artists were active on a private fan club service called “Kwangya Club”. However, it was recently announced that they will stop their activities there and enter Weverse to communicate and interact with fans. Album and merchandise distribution will be handed over to Weverse Shop.

Business insider says that this entry is beneficial, as Weverse is a top fandom service application in Korea, in regards to convenience and growth potential.

However, attention is paid to the potential impact of this move on Dear U, a software development company offering products and services, one of which being Bubble. At the moment, there are 36 artists using Dear U’s Bubble. SM artists’ move to Weverse will likely create intense competition between the two platforms to attract more artists to use them.

Regardless, it seems that SM artists will continue using Bubble, even after moving to Weverse.
