On May 21, rapper Sleepy uploaded a new video titled “Sleepy’s Thoughts on His 6-Year Lawsuit and Recent Updates” on his YouTube channel. During the video, the rapper reflected on his difficult years battling legal issues with his former agency while also recalling the support he once received from BTS Jin.
According to Sleepy, the two stars became close after appearing together on the SBS variety show Law of the Jungle. At the time, BTS had not yet achieved their historic Billboard success.
“We got closer after filming together,” Sleepy shared. “Before BTS became Billboard No.1 artists, Jin called me and jokingly said, ‘Hyung, buy me food,’ so we ended up eating together often. I was going through a really hard time back then, but I tried not to show it. I still remember him buying me meals.”
Sleepy also revealed that Jin once personally reached out to him after seeing reports about his financial struggles during the height of his lawsuit battle. “He told me, ‘If things are too difficult, I want to help you,’” Sleepy recalled. “But I told him I don’t like borrowing money.”
However, the rapper confessed that his own actions eventually created distance between them. “Whenever Seokjin texted me on KakaoTalk, I posted the messages on social media,” he admitted. “He overlooked it once or twice, but I kept doing it.”
Sleepy then reflected on the moment he believes permanently affected their friendship. After later discussing Jin’s supportive messages during his appearance on the talk show Radio Star, media coverage quickly followed.
“To be honest, I wanted attention,” Sleepy confessed. “After the articles came out, we slowly stopped keeping in touch. I was wrong, and I really want to apologize.”
The rapper also shared a bittersweet story about unexpectedly seeing Jin at a wedding afterward. “I saw Seokjin at a wedding once,” he said. “I kept debating whether I should apologize to him, but in the end, I just went home.”
Sleepy’s honest confession has since drawn attention online, with many fans praising Jin’s kindness while also appreciating Sleepy’s willingness to openly acknowledge his mistakes years later.
