Singer Himchan, second indictment without detention… Another trial on charges of sexual harassment

Former B.A.P member-singer Himchan (Kim Him-chan) will appear in court for the second time on charges of sexual harassment.

According to the legal community today (Oct 27th), the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office indicted Himchan without detention on charges of forced harassment on Oct 25th.

Himchan is accused of forcibly molesting two women while drunk on the stairs outside a pub in Hannam-dong, Seoul around April 17th.

At that time, Himchan denied the charges through his legal representative, saying, “Himchan was standing on a narrow and steep staircase and another customer opened the stair door and came out, and as a precautionary measure, our client’s hand touched the waist of a woman. There was no sexual intention.” However, the prosecution concluded that the charges of harassment were upheld.

Earlier, Himchan was indicted on charges of sexual assault in September 2019 and appealed after being sentenced to 10 months in prison at the first trial in February last year.

Himchan, who debuted in the music industry as a member of idol group B.A.P in 2011 and gained popularity in both Korea and Japan, withdrew from the team due to sexual harassment scandal.

In October 2020, he was caught by the police for driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% and causing accident.
