Shinhwa’s Lee Min-woo, “Close Acquaintance Extorted All My Properties And Gaslighted Me Severely”

Shinhwa’s Lee Min-woo talked about when he was scammed by a close acquaintance in the past

Channel A’s “Best Friend Talk Documentary Table For 4” broadcast on October 16th featured the guest appearance of Shinhwa members Lee Min-woo, Jun Jin, and Lee Min-woo’s older sister.

That day, Lee Min-woo shared, “My job is being a celebrity. Celebrities easily become scam targets. They also get scammed by close acquaintances”.

He continued, “It was severely gaslighted. Seems like money was the purpose. They planned to approach me and aim at my money. They extorted all the properties I had earned so far. My sister knew that person, too”.

Revealing that he was scammed by an acquaintance he had known for 20 years, Lee Min-woo said, “When I wanted to hide, that person reached out for me. They looked nice”.

Lee Min-woo’s older sister said, “I got to know the story two years later. That person was close to me, too. It seemed like they were trying to get some information. They used Min-woo’s weaknesses to bully him for three years”, revealing the acquaintance’s behaviors.

Lee Min-woo continued, “I couldn’t breathe every day. I kept talking about that and swearing. After receiving psychiatric treatment, I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I also developed stuttering symptoms. My heart beat fast and I got angry just by seeing someone looking similar to that person”.

He added, “I even thought of dying. I regret it so much. At some point, I came to my senses and I received a message, saying ‘You shouldn’t give up’. I cried nonstop”, revealing how he overcame it himself.
