Media channel Kenh14’s exclusive interview with Shin Min Ah & Kim Woo Bin: Happiness is to live beside your beloved without any barriers

Media channel Kenh14 recently revealed their exclusive interview with the loving couple Shin Min Ah & Kim Woo Bin about their shared project, the K-drama “Our Blues”.

If you are a long-time K-drama fan, then you probably heard of the heart-fluttering relationship between Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin. Having overcome Kim Woo Bin’s cancer together, this couple’s wedding is something highly-anticipated by most of the public. Unfortunately, both of them are super private with their lives, rarely mention each other, and even in their newest work “Our Blues”, don’t play a couple.

Our Blues

With the rising popularity and success of “Our Blues”, news site KENH14 recently had an exclusive interview with this star couple. The full interview is as follows:

To me… Happiness is….

The screenwriter of “Our Blues” once shared that if she invited Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin as a couple, then they’d obviously say no. However, the matter is different with an omnibus series like “Our Blues”. Since there are many storylines and various characters, the two’s characters barely interact, but these rare moments are enough to warm the audience’s heart.

To work with the star-studded cast of “Our Blues”, do you ever feel pressured about the anticipated success and coverage of the series?

Shin Min Ah: In this omnibus style, actors will feel more pressured in certain aspects and less pressured in some others. But I have finished all the scenes for my character Seon Ah, and didn’t feel any different between this series and other projects of mine. Instead, I merely focused on convincingly delivering the story of my character, since it’s the storyline that’s different.

Still, to gather such a famous cast in a project is no piece of cake, and that’s why I find this an unique and interesting opportunity. I’m pretty sure “Our Blues” will be an unforgettable time. Also, on this set, I can really focus on my acting while working together with these people, and it’s this collective energy that helps us improve our acting further.

Our Blues

Kim Woo Bin: To me, this is a completely new genre and journey, but I totally enjoyed it. I was surprised to learn that there are many intersecting storylines, and I did find many of the characters relatable. It’s a great experience, working with so many people, but also quite difficult to film scenes with everyone. We had a great time and the set was always filled with laughter whenever the cast was gathered. Unfortunately, these scenes are quite rare, as each character has their own plotline.

Our Blues

The theme of “Our Blues” is “Let’s all live a happy life”, so what is your definition of happiness?

Shin Min Ah: I believe that happiness is to live a simple life without having to face great challenges.

Kim Woo Bin: Happiness is being able to live every moment with your loved ones without any barriers.

“I was moved by the perfect script”

In the drama, Kim Woo Bin plays Park Jung Joon, a ship captain who falls in love with a mysterious female diver (Han Ji Min). Meanwhile, Shin Min Ah plays a depressed wife and mother who returns to Jeju during the darkest time of her life.

Many viewers worried that “Our Blues” would turn out to be a sadder version of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”. Is Shin Min Ah personally afraid of repeating your image in the previous drama?

I think viewers will find these two dramas quite similar, because both are set against a seaside village. Even so, “Our Blues” and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” are different in genre. My characters are also not the same either, both in terms of personality and the situations they are put in. I hope viewers will see the difference in the way I try to portray Min Seon Ah and Yoon Hye Jin.

Kim Woo Bin, it’s been a while since you last appeared on the small screen. For you to select it for your comeback, you must have been really impressed by the script of “Our Blues”?

The story of the drama itself is very touching. I was moved by the perfect script alongside the writer and director whom I have always wanted to work with. I was also curious to see what Jung Joon’s life would be like, and especially because I think I can understand his feelings well.

You work with Han Ji Min the most on set, right? What was it like working with her?

Han Ji Min is really considerate so she always took care of everyone on set. She even cared for my staff. I always feel grateful to her. Given the omnibus style of “Our Blues”, it’s a shame that I didn’t get to shoot more scenes with my co-star. Ji Min’s staff and my staff have also become close. They were upset when we finished filming our scenes together. They said they wanted to meet again on another occasion, a different project. I hope that we will be able to work together again in another drama.
