Starting with a 4.9% viewer rating, “Doctor Cha” jumped to 12.9% in just seven episodes. The drama’s popularity is also evident on Netflix.

Perhaps due to its popularity, the reactions are varied. Some viewers are leaving harsh comments on Uhm Jung Hwa’s appearance, just as they did to lead actress Jeon Do Yeon in the drama “Crash Course in Romance.”

In various online communities, including women’s communities, some are saying, “It’s a bit hard to look at Uhm Jung Hwa’s face.”

Some viewers are also commenting that Uhm Jung Hwa looks similar to the actress Park Jun Geum, who plays the role of her mother-in-law in “Doctor Cha”, saying that they look like they are the same age.

Some netizens even commented that “the procedure Uhm Jung Hwa did to her face seems a bit excessive,” but many others countered with, “Procedures are something all celebrities do, and it’s unfair to criticize Uhm Jung Hwa for it.

There were even those who criticized Uhm Jung Hwa’s voice, saying that it was uncomfortable to listen to.

However, this may be due to Uhm Jung Hwa’s history of thyroid cancer. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, she underwent surgery and spent six months unable to speak.

After recovering her health, in an interview, Uhm Jung Hwa recalled the painful time, saying, “After my voice changed, I felt like a different person. I lost my confidence and couldn’t speak. I had to focus so much on my voice that I couldn’t say what I wanted to say.

Regarding Uhm Jung Hwa’s appearance and voice, some viewers are suggesting that they should focus on the drama itself, saying that it is more important to concentrate on the drama rather than various feedback.

Meanwhile, episode 7 of “Doctor Cha,” which aired on May 6th, recorded a nationwide viewer rating of 12.9% according to Nielsen Korea.

The lowest rating was 4.9% for the first episode, and the highest was 13.2% for episode 6. “Doctor Cha” is currently ranked first in Netflix Korea’s drama category.
