Chinese star Kris Wu (Wu Yifan), who was detained for sexual assault of minors, appears to have been released from prison.
On August 10th, Chinese media reported that a new photo had recently been posted on the Facebook account of Kris Wu, who was arrested last year on charges of sexually assaulting minors.
Last year, Kris Wu was convicted by the Chinese court of luring and sexually harassing a minor trainee by promising to help her debut in the entertainment industry. Kris Wu, who was reportedly imprisoned in Chaoyang Prison, Beijing, suddenly changed his Facebook profile picture on the 28th of last month and uploaded a photo on SNS once again on August 10th.
The released photo this time shows the back of Kris Wu, who is holding a board in a snowy field.
Chinese media and netizens believe that Kris Wu has already been released after his sentence ended. Moreover, Kris Wu’s fans are even speculating that he is planning to make a comeback.
Kris Wu debuted as a member of SM Entertainment’s boy group EXO and EXO M in 2012 then left the group in 2014 after filing a lawsuit to terminate his exclusive contract. Since then he had been working as a singer and actor in China.
Last year, Kris Wu was arrested by the police after he was found to have drunk and had sexual intercourse with a minor fan under the pretext of an audition and fanmeeting. He was then expelled from the Chinese entertainment industry.
