The drama “Seoyoung, My Daughter”, which made Lee Bo Young dubbed “Queen of Tears”, will be broadcast on Highlight TV.
Highlight TV, a daily K-drama channel, announced that it will broadcast the “nation’s healing drama” “Seoyoung, My Daughter” from January 27th (Friday).
“Seoyoung, My Daughter”, which was broadcast as a weekend drama on KBS2 from September 2012 to March of the following year, recorded the highest viewership rating of 47.6% (according to Nielsen Korea) at the time of airing. Thanks to the drama’s popularity, the filming location, drama set, and OSTs gained much attention.
It was the only show aired in the first half of 2013 to record viewer ratings of over 40%, and was loved by all age groups in Korea. It ranked first in a survey on TV immersion held by the Korea Broadcasting Advertising Promotion Corporation.
Lee Bo Young, in the role of the main character Seoyoung, was praised for her realistic portrayal of a girl from a poor family who has a broken relationship with her gambler father Lee Sam Jae (Cheon Ho Jin). From the middle and the second half of her drama, Seoyoung’s feelings of sorry for her father and her love for her father, who is standing at the crossroads of life and death, overlap. Lee Bo Young made viewers cry buckets of tears with her acting.
Lee Bo Young, as well as main cast members such as Lee Sang Yoon, Cheon Ho Jin, and Park Hae Jin, gave a convincing performance and received a lot of love both in Korea and overseas. In particular, “Seoyoung, My Daughter” ranked first in K-drama ratings in many countries overseas, including Japan, revealing the unchanging power of the Hallyu Wave.
