santos bravos hybe latin boy group

The global ambitions of “Hitman Bang” (Bang Si‑hyuk), founder of HYBE, have now borne bright fruit in the Latin music region, long considered a dominant local genre. The company has applied K‑pop’s signature audition model and HYBE’s software system to birth a Latin male idol group under the name Santos Bravos.

The final lineup of Santos Bravos will consist of five members from Brazil, Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States, averaging only 20 years of age. The members’ backgrounds are remarkable: for example, Peruvian member Alejandro moved from being a tennis elite athlete to studying at USC’s School of Music; in Brazil, Kauê had already been spotlighted as an “all‑rounder artist” before debut.

The final member announcement followed a dramatic format reminiscent of K‑pop TV auditions. On the evening of October 22 (local time), at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional often called the “temple of Latin music” the debut concert unveiled the five members live on stage, over 10,000 fans in the audience. Those unable to attend watched the HYBE Labels YouTube live stream, which reportedly attracted over 70,000 simultaneous viewers.

From day one, this global HYBE pioneering project entered high gear. Santos Bravos were invited to the esteemed Billboard Latin Music Week the world’s largest Latin music industry event in its 36th year and even secured a dedicated panel on their formation process, signalling the industry’s recognition.

Santos Bravos stands as another success under Bang Si‑hyuk’s global strategy of “multi‑home, multi‑genre.” Having previously launched the North‑America‑based girl group KATSEYE, HYBE is now adapting its production system to the Latin market, completing the “Pan-America” framework by establishing Santos Bravos in a region where Latin‑genre dominance reigns.

KATSEYE has already secured mega‑hits this year with songs like “Gnarly” and “Gabriela,” establishing itself among the global top tier. Now, with Santos Bravos targeting the Latin male idol market, HYBE seems poised to replicate its K-pop success across a new cultural frontier.
