Japanese volleyball player Ran Takahashi is facing strong criticism after media exposed allegations that he spent the night with an adult film actress.
On October 21, Bunshun Online shocked Japan’s volleyball community by reporting that Ran Takahashi (24) an outside hitter for the national team was seen staying overnight at a hotel with two different women on two consecutive nights, one of whom was an adult film actress. After a friendly match against Bulgaria on the evening of September 3, Takahashi did not return with the team but took a taxi to the entertainment district of Roppongi (Tokyo). He was filmed entering a luxury hotel with adult film actress Kawakita and leaving at dawn.

Two weeks later, after returning from the World Championship in the Philippines, Takahashi reportedly met Saika Kawakita (also known as Ayaka Kawakita) again at the same hotel. However, just one day later, he was seen with another woman Uka (26), an influencer with over 150,000 Instagram followers and also his official girlfriend.
According to a source, “Uka and Takahashi have been dating since last year. Despite the long-distance relationship, they still meet frequently.” Many fans expressed disappointment, believing the scandal could damage the image of the so‑called “volleyball heartthrob.” Takahashi later issued a statement denying romantic involvement with either Uka or Kawakita, adding that he would not comment on his private life.

Born in 2001, Ran Takahashi has a mixed Japanese–American–British–German heritage. He earned the nickname “volleyball heartthrob” thanks to his tall and attractive appearance. His father was a high school baseball player, while his Japanese‑American mother played tennis. His older brother is also a professional volleyball player.

Takahashi started playing volleyball in second grade when he joined his brother’s team. In high school, he quickly proved his talent and led the team to the national tournament. At 18, he was selected for the national team, competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and won the title of “Best Outside Spiker” at the 2023 Asian Championship. He played three seasons for Monza (Italy) before returning to Japan and joining the Suntory Sunbirds Osaka in July 2024.

He is known not only for his skills but also for his bright visuals and friendly personality. Off the court, the Japanese outside hitter prefers a simple fashion style, often wearing neutral colors such as black, gray, and white, and is not obsessed with luxury brands. He loves music, plays the guitar, and frequently shares travel moments.
With his handsome looks and strong appeal, Takahashi is a familiar face in many advertising campaigns, collaborating with well‑known brands. His Instagram currently has over 2.7 million followers, placing him among the most popular volleyball athletes in Japan.

In a television show, when asked if he would date a celebrity, Takahashi laughed and replied, “I don’t see a problem with it.” This remark has gained new attention following media reports regarding his alleged relationship with an adult film star.
