Samsung & iPhone Competition Intensifies Amid Stars’ Selfie Trends

Apple plans to install better cameras on its new iPhone 16 series to target young people and compete with Samsung

According to the IT industry on June 16th, Apple plans to install the latest 48-megapixel Sony sensor and a 12% larger main camera lens on iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple will also improve its ultra-wide-angle camera from a 12-megapixel lens to a 48-megapixel lens.

If the product comes out as expected, the new iPhone 16 will have to take high-definition photos with a much higher resolution. With higher resolutions, photos can maintain quality even if they are zoomed or cut more flexibly.

Insiders believe that Apple has been focusing on improving its camera function targeting younger generations. In particular, as celebrities have been posting ‘mirror selfies’ with iPhones on SNS, the formula ‘selfie = iPhone’ is now popular among young people.

In fact, celebrities such as Kim Yu-na, IVE’s Ahn Yu-jin, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Han So-hee have also been posting selfies taken with iPhones.

On the other hand, Samsung, known to be the ‘best’ in image processing in competition with iPhone, seems to be aware of this. After losing No.1 to Apple last year, Samsung regained the top spot this year with AI smartphone with Galaxy S24.

Competition is expected to intensify as some predict Apple will reach its largest sales in three years with iPhone 16. Prior to the release of the new iPhone in September, Samsung will also unveil Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 next month.

Aside from that, Apple will reportedly include more functions for phone calls and payment methods.
