This singer, who disappeared during his career peak due to misunderstandings, confessed sincere feelings ahead of his comeback

There is a singer who was once misunderstood and disappeared from the public’s eyes. Ahead of his return, deep feelings are expressed through his SNS

On October 7th, Roy Kim (29, real name Kim Sang Woo) released on SNS a commentary film for his new single “Take Me Back In Time”, where he showed his sincerity towards music.

The video contains Roy Kim’s calm monologue, saying, “At some point, I was scared when I thought I might not be able to do the music I wanted to do. Music is not a given to me, so I have to work hard to protect it.”

“It’s a song where I wanted to capture the feeling of having the things I thought would be around me naturally, suddenly leaving me behind,” he then explained about “Take Me Back In Time”,

“Take Me Back In Time” is a new song released by Roy Kim after about two and a half years since his last track, “Linger On”, which dropped back in May 2020. For this comeback, Roy Kim personally took charge of the lyrics and composition, adding to the perfection.

Earlier, Roy Kim was investigated for distributing pornography during the investigation into the 2019 illegal filming distribution case (Jung Joon Young group chat case) of singers Jung Joon Young, Choi Jong Hoon, and Seungri. However, as a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that he was not a member of Jung Joon Young’s chatroom. Instead, he was investigated for distributing pornography because he sent a screenshot from the chatroom to inform another that a celebrity’s pornographic photo posted on an old block was edited.

Roy Kim eventually got rid of the stigma of being a member of Jung Joon Young’s chatroom, and received a suspended indictment in February of the following year. Afterwards, Roy Kim continued a period of self-reflection and enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of the same year, and was discharged from the military last year.

After returning from a long hiatus, Roy Kim is expected to release his fourth full-length album soon. This regular album, released after 7 years, is an album to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Roy Kim’s debut, who made his first public appearance through the Mnet audition program “Superstar K Season 4”, which aired in 2012.

Roy Kim’s pre-release single “Take Me Back In Time” will be released on October 14th at 6 PM (KST).
