Red Velvet Seulgi gave a meaningful answer when asked to cover the dance of NewJeans’s “Hype Boy”.
Seulgi’s fanmeeting “HAPPY SEULGI DAY” was held at Roun Art Hall in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on February 18th, about a week after Seulgi’s birthday on February 10th.
At the event, Seulgi showed a baby of her childhood to fans for the first time. The female singer shed tears when singing a song she chose for fans.
In addition, Seulgi heated up the atmosphere by doing a dance cover performance with SM singers’ songs, such as EXO’s “Love Shot”, NCT DREAM’s “Candy”, and aespa’s “Illusion”, at the requests of fans at the fanmeeting.
At that time a fan asked Seulgi to do a dance cover of NewJeans’s “Hype Boy”.
Seulgi moved her body a little bit then suddenly stopped. She left a meaningful remark, saying “You know it, right? That’s right. I’m not going to cause any trouble…”.

NewJeans is a girl group under HYBE’s sublabel. HYBE recently attempted to acquire SM. HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si Hyuk purchased 14.8% of SM stakes from SM’s former executive producer Lee Soo Man. In response, SM’s CEO Lee Sung Soo issued a statement to expose Lee Soo Man’s wrongdoings and protest against the acquisition.
