Reason Behind FIFTY FIFTY Keena’s Return, “Unfair Profit Shares For ‘Cupid’ Rap Part & Ahn Sung-il’s Lies”

CEO Jeon Hong-joon explained why FIFTY FIFTY’s Keena withdrew her appeal and returned to Attrakt

On October 16th, Keena submitted an application to the Seoul High Court’s Civil Division 25-2, which was in charge of the exclusive contract suspension lawsuit against Attrakt, to withdraw her appeal.

According to Attrakt CEO Jeon Hong-joon, Keena met him and expressed her intention to return to the agency. In a telephone interview with Sports Seoul on October 17th, CEO Jeon said, “Keena lost a lot of weight and suffered so much that I thought she was about to collapse. She said she had anxiety and depression”.

Regarding the decisive reason a crack between the members, who were still criticizing Attrakt on SNS, occurred, the CEO revealed that it was the profit shares for the rap lyrics of “Cupid”.

CEO Jeon said, “Among the media reports regarding The Givers CEO Ahn Sung-il, such as his forgery of educational background, it is said that Ahn also robbed the rap lyrics of ‘Cupid’ written by Keena to earn the profit share. It seems like Keena began to doubt Ahn’s false statements after reading the media articles”.

Released in February, “Cupid” became viral after entering the Billboard HOT 100 and staying in the chart for 21 consecutive weeks. With this hit song, FIFTY FIFTY emerged as a “miracle of small and medium-sized companies”. In particular, “Cupid” also got the chance to earn a Grammy Awards nomination.

According to the Korea Music Copyright Association, the copyright shares for the song “Cupid” are 28.65% for Ahn Sung-il, 4% for Baek, 66.85% for The Givers and Keena only receives 0.5%. It is unknown which part Baek participated in the production of the song.

Regarding Keena, who made the difficult decision to return to Attrakt, CEO Jeon said, “I’m grateful that Keena is back. We will discuss her future activities later”, adding “The lawsuit we filed against The Givers will continue”.
