Real-life “The Glory”? Female MC spilled profanities on TV and paid a heavy price

A female MC’s arrogant attitude after using swear words while on air has sparked outrage among Korean netizens. 

On the evening of April 3rd, Yonhap News reported that famous host and MC Jeong Yoon Jung faced severe consequences after her scandal of swearing on live television. In particular, the online shopping channel Hyundai Home Shopping decided to fire her.

Furthermore, Jeong Yoon Jung is indefinitely banned from participating in any broadcast activities of the channel in the future. Three shopping channels under Lotte, Hyundai, and CJ also announced the cancellation of the female host’s broadcasts for at least two weeks.

Previously, Jeong Yoon Jung received heavy criticism from viewers after uttering profanities words during a live broadcast where she sells cosmetics. When the production team requested her to correct the mistake, Jeong Yoon Jung casually responded, “I apologize for sometimes using inappropriate language during the broadcast, but please treat it like entertainment. Isn’t it the era of entertainment in home shopping?”

The female MC’s arrogant attitude ended up sparking outrage in viewers, who filed numerous complaints about her unprofessionalism and disrespect. Moreover, Jeong Yoon Jung’s controversy reminded viewers of weathercaster Park Yeon Jin – the antagonist played by actress Lim Ji Yeon in “The Glory”. This character is brash and made many arrogant statements that made viewers’ blood boil on behalf of the protagonist.

It is known that the Korea Communications Standards Commission has received numerous complaints from viewers about Jeong Yoon Jung’s case. Subsequently, Jeong Yoon Jung apologized to the audience, admitting her mistake and promising to live more responsibly.
